Celebrating Language, Connection, and the Power of Youth Voice

The Royal Commonwealth Society of Canada is proud to announce the 5th Annual Youth French Public Speaking Competition, to be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM PST on Zoom.

This national, bilingual initiative is organized by youth, for youth, and promotes one of Canada’s official languages—French—as a bridge between cultures and communities. Since its inception in 2021, the competition has brought together hundreds of outstanding students from across the country, encouraging language learningcivic engagement, and cross-cultural understanding.

2025 Theme: “L’amitié construit des ponts / Friendship Builds Bridges”

In today’s increasingly interconnected world, friendship transcends borders. This year’s theme invites participants to explore the power of human connection—whether through personal stories, cultural reflections, literary analysis, or creative perspectives.

Speeches may be explanatory, narrative, or persuasive, and students in Grades 1–12 are invited to participate across four divisions, with poetry/prose reading available for younger grades.

Awards & Recognition

  • Top 3 speakers in each division will receive trophies and prizes.
  • All participants will receive an official certificate from RCS Canada.
  • Students gain valuable experience in public speaking, confidence-building, and French communication.
